S.T.A.R. 4th Grade Leadership Club
S.T.A.R. (Service, Teamwork, Achievement, Recognition) is open to 4th grade students who want to learn how to become leaders at school and in the community. The team members engage in many activities including leadership building activities, sponsoring service learning activities, and modeling positive behaviors for our younger students. Students are asked to attend ONE monthly meeting during their recess time. Meetings entail various leadership lessons, team building, or a guest speaker who will speak to students about the importance of leadership.
A student who would like to be on the S.T.A.R. Team must demonstrate:
Students in 4th grade who are interested in serving on the team complete an application which is then reviewed by the selection committee. The selection committee evaluates each applicant on the following criteria: demonstration of leadership, citizenship, school behavior, and responsibility.
S.T.A.R. students have participated in several community projects in the school year including Operation Care Package, snack sale for Shorewood Hugs, Christmas cards for Seniors in nursing homes, and other team building activities. S.T.A.R. students were invited to the local radio station to talk about their Operation Care Package service community project.

- A strong work ethic, completed classroom and homework assignments
- Good citizenship and have positive relationships with others
- Be kind, respectful, and honest
- Excellent attendance (on time with limited absences and tardies)
